Get to know Karen:
My love of horses started early with the influence of my Dad. He began showing Clydesdale horses when I was in grade 1. I was lucky because I always had a pony or horse growing up. In 1975 Dad & Mom started North Stream Farm Tack Shop. As a kid it was a dream to run a store and that dream continues today.
I met a young man at one of those horse shows who shared the horse passion and Kevin and I married in 1983. We both worked other jobs along with the farm and tack shop in the early years.
We have four wonderful kids; our greatest accomplishment. They have all taken part in the shop at some point in the growing up and each share the entrepreneurial sense.
In 1993 the tack shop became my full time. Through the next few years we began traveling and setting up booths at shows as well as organizing events to promote the industry.
In 2019 we built a new building for the shop after we purchased my family’s farm. As the sign on the wall says “My Piece of heaven “ . People often comment how peaceful it is in the shop. I am grateful I get to share it with others.
I
guess intuition would have played its part in every decision made.
