Get to know Ian:
Ian retired from his professional career in 2016 as a Partner with EY based in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he led the IT Advisory Practice in Atlantic Canada after EY’s acquisition of Ambir. He now invests his time as a Board Member of various organizations bringing expertise in the area of technology governance and cyber-risk oversight.
Prior to the acquisition of Ambir by EY, Ian was CEO of Ambir, an independent, Atlantic Canadian headquartered IT consulting company. Ambir was a leader in the consulting services space; twice recognized as “The #1 Best Place to Work in Atlantic Canada” by Progress Magazine and ranked “The #3 Great Place to Work in Canada in 2013” by the Great Place to Work Institute. Ambir was also previously ranked nationally as one of Canada’s Top 25 Up and Comers in the Branham Group Surveys of ICT Companies.
Ian is a graduate of Acadia University & Dalhousie University in Electrical Engineering & a retired Professional Engineer in New Brunswick. He currently serves as a Board Director, Audit Committee Member, People & Culture Committee Member and Chair of the Succession Committee for Atlantic Lottery Corporation and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors. Previously he was a Board Director and Audit Committee member of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, a Governor at Nova Scotia Community College, a member of the Acadia Alumni Association, a member of the New Brunswick Business Council and the founding CoChair of the New Brunswick IT Council (Now TechImpact).
In addition to Board activities Ian’s passions include fly fishing, fly tying, writing, oil painting and cooking. Ian has been happily married to the love of his life for 30 years and proud dad to three great kids!
